Welcome!

I’m Marie! I’m so glad you found me on this little corner of the web. It’s exciting (and a little nerve-racking) to be sharing my thoughts, projects, and words with all of you!

I decided to start this blog because I really love reading books and taking the time to process what I’ve read through writing. A lot of this stems from me wanting to also carve out the time to actually read the many books I’ve bought over the years (and especially since the start of the pandemic!). I don’t know about you, but I get so excited to buy new books! And yet… my reading speed often can’t keep up with how quickly I’m buying the books. My hope for this blog is to occasionally be a reference for a meaningful review and to provide some insight into a book you may not have the time to read right now. In my highest of hopes, you will leave inspired to pick up and make the time to read one of the books I’ve reviewed!

So… what kind of books can you expect to see reviews for? I’m not 100% sure yet! While I don’t want to limit myself, as books of all genres call to me, I will be starting with books that are in my area of study: trauma and mental health. I am a social worker by schooling and enjoy reading books in the genres of psychology, sociology, social work, mental health, and social justice. I find that sometimes books in these genres can be dense (because the topics are complicated!), but that the information is so impactful. I hope that this is a way that you can get interested in some of these topics, but in an approachable way.

Here is a list of books in my library that I am planning to do a review of! While I have many more books, some are for enjoying, not for reviewing :)

If you have any suggestions for books, I always want to hear them! I’m always looking for a new book to enjoy. Also, since I’m just starting this blog, I’m also open to feedback! If you have thoughts, questions, or concerns, I’d love to hear from you.

Thank you again for being here! I really appreciate you and hope that you find something here that’s meaningful to you. In addition to book reviews, I’ll also be sharing pictures of the poetry I write and the bullet journal spreads I create. Thank you for your presence and I hope you enjoy (at least some portion) of mine. <3

With appreciation,

Marie
